Fall 2024 Update
The first 2 months of The Clinic being open have been an absolute blast. Meg and I cannot express enough gratitude for everyone that had the courage to walk through those front doors (and then up those stairs 🥵) and give us a try.
While anything new can be challenging, Muay Thai can be exceptionally difficult at first. The movements required look natural but are anything but. A lot of the muscles used to throw a teep or a roundhouse are barely used in everyday life. So, when you use those muscles over and over, you can get sore and tired quickly even when you mentally feel like you haven’t worked that hard. So, again, we appreciate everyone that came in and gave it a try and don’t have enough words to express our gratitude to everyone still sticking it out.
That said, we started small. We had to. While I have extensive experience teaching, I have zero experience running a business. On top of that, it has been over 15 years since Meg and I have lived in PA, so we need time to learn more so we know how to grow to best serve our students.
We have been listening, and here are the things we are currently working on and will be able to implement soon.
Adding class times: Adding a day class option is our top priority. As soon as we feel confident we know a time that will best serve the community, we will get that up and running. Stay tuned to the website and our social media pages for updates.
Shirts/merchandise: I already have a meeting with a merchandise company to see what it will take to get shirts made. The fact that you all are asking for this already warms our hearts. We just wanted to make a gym where people wanted to train. The fact that you guys train here and want to brag about it with shirts makes us beyond happy.
YouTube: We’re working on content for our YouTube channel so can learn some things like how to wrap your hands, what to look for in boxing gloves, ways to use the heavy bags during open gym, etc. without having to ask me in person (I know some of you get sick of talking to me. I get it.).
Adding class types: We’re also working on adding more class types. We have fundamentals classes, and that will always be the bread and butter, but we want to add an advanced class soon and then a fighter’s class after that. We will have class type descriptions in a future blog post.
That’s it for now. But as I’ve said before, I want this gym to represent the students. I’ll always have to do certain things in certain ways due to business. I can’t serve you if I can’t afford to keep the lights on. My fighting days are over, so the only goal I have left to accomplish is doing everything I can to help you all crush your goals whatever they may be (fight, build confidence, lose weight, just get the stress out so you don’t go to jail for a road rage incident, etc.). And I am so pumped to do it.
