Update

September 2025 update

September 16, 20253 min read

I know I don’t normally post blogs this close together but it seems we’re due for an update. There are a few changes coming up at The Clinic and some hurdles I still need to clear to make changes I said I was working on in my last update blog.

Update 1: We are starting a women’s only class in October! This class will be run by Kyla, but I may step in here and there when she is unavailable. This was something that happened organically, and I’m excited for it. I’m very passionate about Muay Thai being for everyone, and this is one more way to help that. This class will be every Monday from 7-8pm in the heavy bag room. We’re still working out a few numbers but it is included for every member that identifies as female. There will be a membership for those who only want to do this class. More details to come!

Update 2: We are hosting Millersville CHAARG on 10/6 as part of their effort to try out different workouts/sports. On this day, we will have our normal schedule until 7pm, after which we will close for the day for everyone except CHAARG. This is only on 10/6. This is a great opportunity for us to introduce the art of Muay Thai to others in hopes of getting the word out there.

Update 3: As you could probably tell from the previous updates, I’m adding some responsibilities to a couple senior students. You will see Kyla coaching the women’s only class, and Joey will be helping out more. For the first year, I have coached every class except for a few when I had to corner at scrimmages or fights. This gym cannot grow without adding coaches, so I’m excited to add other voices to this place. I am well aware of how tired you are of listening to me all the time!

Update 4: This segues nicely into the hurdle I’m running into accomplishing a goal I stated in a previous update blog. I am still being asked about kid’s classes. I assure you it is something I still want to add, but I can’t do it until I have more students serious about assisting. I already teach day classes (and honestly if attendance doesn’t pick up on day classes you may lose them) and evening classes five days a week as well as a Saturday class. This is on top of running the business. Realistically, I can’t add teaching a kid’s class to my schedule without help, so I am looking for some reliable coaches to assist. Once I find them, I will be able to start a kid’s class.

If you’re a current member and you think this is something you would want to help with, please talk to me. I’m not asking you to volunteer your time–there will be compensation.

Update 5: With fall here, I do have new merch in the works. I thought I’d be able to tell you something more, but I’m still working with the artists on designs. We are working on new Thai shorts, T-shirts, hoodies, beanies, and stickers. They will all come out at different times I’m sure, but we’re working on each one of those things. So maybe stash some money on the side for some upcoming swag.

Update Rapid Fire:

  • Halloween themed class is definitely happening again.

  • We’re working on an attendance-based raffle for the month of October.

  • We have students that have put their names in to be matched up for fights.

  • There should be more scrimmages in the future.

More information about everything will be put out with plenty of notice. I’m very excited about all of this, and I hope you all are as well. Year one was great, but I’m hoping year two makes it look mundane!
